We all want to thank our beautiful matriarch for this wonderful vacation. How sweet she is for doing this for us.

If there is one thing to be said about the Wittwer family, it is that they have a love of learning. This was instilled in them by both parents, but especially by Gerald who loved learning and was always searching for more knowledge about the things that interested him.

How many times have we sat by him and had him either get out a dictionary or a map to better explain or understand something. Dani, you are carrying on this tradition this year and we are all very proud of you. Thank you to our dear graduate. You set the example and follow his example of life-long learning for generations to come.

Kjerstin decided it was time for a new look. She sold her hair to pay for her housing for school and is now looking adorable and enjoying low maintenance hair.

We gathered again to celebrate Dad & Dave's Birthday. To do that we of course do what we always do! We EAT! It was a great day, with great company.
Darren brought his new Fiance', Stacy. the wedding is set for next March.

Where has the Summer Gone?

Where has this summer gone. We started it off great with a fun trip down to see Rohn & Sherrie. We met in Palm Springs and had a very fun time.... a little cloud on the last day when someone broke our car window and stole our temple clothes and scriptures. It would have been fun to see their faces when they saw their loot!! A total of 74 Cents was in my temple bag.

We stopped for Date shakes one day.

Bry & I just went to Filmore for a fun 2 day 4 wheel trip. We want you all to rent one and go on this great trail. It is over 300 miles long and covers some fabulous territory.

Update on Ericson

Ericson is doing better and hopefully will get to go home tomorrow. He has been taken down to 3/4 liter of o2 and is maintaining his o2 levels at night around 90%.
I don't have a picture, but the woman in the next room felt so sorry for him, she sent someone down to the giftshop to get him a toy monkey. Keep him in your prayers please.

Since we have such a large family it takes two entries to get us all in.

We've made some raised beds so each child can be responsible for their own garden plot. It has worked great. Except our huckleberries cross pollinated with our green peppers and the only hope is to make them into chutney, or some exotic salsa.

Brock is trying football for the first time this year. He says he doesn't want to make a career out of it, but it's okay. He will be in great shape for swim team.

Annika has taken up photography. She took this photo of Kjerstin and we think it is pretty good for a seven year old. She wants a princess digital camera for Christmas. She just might get it if she keeps this up.

Idaho Wittwer's summer activities

Eric has his new office almost set up. He just needs his remote keyboard to work and he will be all set. He sure is happy the weather has cooled off. Do all of you know Eric HATES sunny blue skies and hot weather. Shocker I know.

Queens for a Day

Well we just enjoyed some marathon Queen/King for day's! We had 4 in 2 weeks trying to get them done before I went down. This is a picture of Mandy May who got to go 4 Wheeling! She was a pretty good driver, but had a little heavy foot and nearly scared grandpa to death! We enjoyed her so much, she is getting so old we can't figure out how that happened!

Since it has been forever since most of you have been to our house, I want to show you a picture of our beautiful home that Bryan works so hard at! Our yard is like a park, with hundreds of birds everywhere. I just love being there. I love sitting on the patio, or having breakfast out there. It is like being in heaven. We also love our garage, it has made winters so much more bearable.

This is Jenny Lake and Colter Bay Marina. I won't be spending much time with you all, b/c Huckleberries should be ripe for the bears and me. I'm willing to fight for them. Anyone wanting to go picking with me is welcome as long as you put the same amount in the bucket as you put in the mouth.

Sorry Mom, I'm not saving very many for you ever since you said they tasted like Blueberries. A sin. A down right sin. (Grin, wink wink)

The lastest from Eric's family

Brock and Marc just finished the Jr. High Championships. They both did really well. Brock is currently the Shelley record holder for the 100 yard backstroke.
He placed 9th in 100 yard backstroke for the region.
He placed 9th again in the 50 yard freestyle.
His relay team took first in the 200 yard Medley Relay.
And last but not least he placed 14th in the 100 yard freestyle.

Marc took third place in the 200 yard Freestyle Relay.
He placed 11th in the 100 Yard Backstroke.
11th place again in the 50 yard freestyle
And last but not least 13th place in the100 Yard Freestyle.

They both ejoyed swimming but the highlight of the year was the hummer-limo ride after the end of the season (provided by one of the team members parents).

Every night mom goes to bed while Kjerstin takes the little ones and reads to them. She can get them to do anything. If they don't brush their teeth fast enough, she takes away a book. Annika moves quickly when books are being bargained. Ericson usually lasts about three pages and is off to yell for Bok or Mok or Pappa (which is either Pappa or Packer depending on his mood).

Packer is into scouting. He is working on his wolf. Mom is the den leader so he gets to have friends over every Wednesday. Hopefully we will be learning to tie more knots. He is working on a Volcano for Pack meeting this next month. Dry Ice is so much fun.

Kjerstin had the opportunity to play Elphiba from "Wicked". Doesn't she look fantastic. She sang the song "What is this feeling" with her friend Breir At the Virginia Theatre here in Shelley. We weren't sure she would turn back to normal, but surprisingly the next day she was only tinged with green. Green food coloring - yup its true.

Sorry if this is mispelled or poorly written. Ericson is screaming and I'm not relenting.

Happy Birthday Eric. 42 on the 24th. Look at those numbers. Cool aih?

Panama City

We decided to stay here for a few days and ended up here for a week. We are right on the beach with a large patio. We have loved walking on the beach, going to the dog races, sitting in the hot tub. I have loved feeding the birds. These are Ibis and they run around like pigeons.

The hot tub is heavenly, it overlooks the ocean. A great place to watch the sun set.... which we didn't get to do too much here as it has been pretty cloudy.

which would win. Bry had the poop theory.... he thought if they pooped on the way out they could run faster as they would be lighter.... Kinda sick theory!

Tomorrow we are heading home. We are going to do 2- 400 mile days so we can be in Arlington by friday. See you soon.

On the Road again!

One last goodbye to the beautiful birds of the Everglades. This is an Annihinga drying her wings.

Below is a tree full of Comorants. They acted like they were posing for us... didn't even try to fly off.

Well here we go, we're off to Miami to see our friends the Arriettas. We are planning on going to church with them on Sunday and then we will stay overnight a couple of nights. We were staying in Florida city, which is just south of Miami. I guess it isn't a really great area, but we felt very safe. We were right next to a Walmart and a Golden Corral. Bry doesn't think it can get any better than that! Our room was upstairs, with no elevator so we hated hauling all our junk up and down the stairs. Our room was clean if not a 4 star... it was barely a 2 star actually.

When we went to church it was mostly latins. In Gulf port it was mostly blacks. I told Carmita that I had never been hugged and kissed that much in church in my life! Everyone we met had kiss and a hug for us. Carmita says it is a latin thing. It was kinda nice. No one would ever feel left out, as I didn't see anyone that escaped! jAfter church we went to their home for the most delicious dinner! Black beans over rice that was so yummy I could hardly get enough even though I was stuffed. Then they had a pork roast, cuban bread, a cuban salad, Avocados that were larger than softballs, peeled and cubed then covered in salt, vinegar and olive oil. Then the most delicous rice pudding. They cooked fried plantains that were incredible aslo. I got recipes for everything. Then we went out on their pier and talked and fished. Bry caught several big cat fish, that they just released. This is a picture of us with them and their son Leo who is just leaving for a mission.

In Maimi we went to the acquarium and then were going to find a beach. The traffic was so horrific that we decided to bag the beach, and bag the keys, and bag Miami. I was a little fearful on the bike with all that traffic. They have 3 million people in Miami, and everyone of them has a car and was on the road that day! We left and were very glad to have Miami and her traffic behind us. We were planning on stopping at the Orlando temple, but the traffic there looked as bad as Miami, so we decided to skip that one. We would stop again at Baton Rouge. A much easier stop. We stopped for the night near Ocala, then were off for our next stop of Panama City. When we got here we loved it so much we extended our stay for 3 nights. Right on the beach.

A new adventure

Hi everyone! Well we have had one of our dreams come true. We have always wanted to take off on the motor cycle in the dead of winter and go somewhere warm and stay for a month.

We were finally able to do it. Bry took off on Christmas morning with his new GPS christmas present that we couldn't have lived without... it has saved a lot of cussing! The trailer was heavy, but his spirit was light! He went to Dallas and spent a few days with Nick. They went to 6 flags a couple of days and just had a good time. He then took off for Houston and met me at the airport a week after he left. It was raining when I landed, but it was just a really light mist and pretty fun to ride in. We went to the Houston temple the next day. It was a very special experience. Then we were off again for Baton Rouge for another temple session . That was one of the smaller temples so we had to have reservations. It was really nice. We took off again. We were going to go to NEw Orleans, but the Mardi Gras had just started. Bry said the only way to tolerate a bunch of drunks is to be one so we didn't go!

We went to Gulf Port Mississippi next. We kept calling hotels, and kept getting a recording. We couldn't figure out why until we got there.... they were all GONE! KAtrina wiped them all out. The one hotel we stayed at was the only one not completely destroyed. They had just barely reopened it and it was very beautiful. Walking down the street was hard, as most of the homes were still boarded up and smelled of mold so bad. Debris such as mattresses, hangers etc was all over the beautiful beaches. This was from a year and 1/2 ago. For us Katrina is just a memory, for them it is still a very stark reality, and they are still trying to put their lives back in order. We went to church there, and it was very interesting.

We stopped at a Cajun village that was reconstructed. The cajuns were french immigrants that were kicked out of Canada when the English took possession. They were sent to Louisana. They didn't know the climate, the customs, the weather or anything. They were amazing people who adapted to a harsh climate they weren't used to with no resources other than theirself. They had restored one of their villages on the Bayou and had people showing how they made thread from cotton, made cloth, cooked etc. HEre is a sweet old cajun man who told us stories and played for us.

Our next stop was Florida. We took this picture below as were went for a walk on the beach in the morning before we left to get to the everglades. The beach looked like someone had dumped powdered sugar out for sand. I have never seen sand so white.

We went through the Everglades where we would stay for the next 3 days. It wasn't enough time to see all of the wonders there. A million and 1/2 acres of untouched wilderness. It was amazing. We went on a platoon boat ride through the Mongrove forests, and then the next day we went Canoeing through the everglades. What a thrill that was. This is what it looked like when we got there early in the morning to head out. There were 3 canoes and a guide. I was in front and Bry in the rear. He was in charge of steering, and we almost hit the largest Crocodile known in the everglades! We asked the guide if we could go closer and he told us to go ahead. We started paddling, and couldn't stop, the wind was blowing us straight towards him. He looked up at us like we were crazy, and then came toward us and slipped in the water right next to us... I about had a heart attack. We were withing a yard of him. He isn't the one in the picture. He was about 3 ft. larger than this one. There are only approx 500 Crocodiles left in the world, they are endangered. There are over a million alligators. That is a alligator below. They are darker in color, their eyes lower, and you can only see their top teeth. Crocs you can see both top and bottom.

The birds were amazing! Flocks of Ibis, HErons, (above) egrets, comorants, (below) wood storks... they were as common as our sparrows. Well we have loved sharing our adventure with you. We will write more later. We about 1/2 through our vacation time.... Really glad we are missing the cold spell back home. We will write more later. Love to you all.

House hunting

Hi guys,

We have backed out of the offer in the flat roof house. When taxes are 3,800 a year it is a little scary.

We are looking at a couple other options. We'll keep you posted.

Eric is leaving for Green Bay tomorrow for a week. Hope he brings Packer back something really special.
I'm getting tired of crutches. Only two more weeks and I will be able to get rid of them. I broke my toe walking down some steps. ouch, poor Jacqueline

Brock is getting ready for Kayak Nationals in Fort Collins September 14-18. Anyone who wants to come watch is welcome

Annika is excited about all the princess notebooks and girly stuff in the stores for school. Ohh so exciting.
Ericson has a tooth and crawls all over and is not in trouble a lot. He is soo cute.

Checking in

Hi, just wanted to let you know that we are almost finished with our investment house. Bry was very worried about it as it tied up all of our emergency funds.... If we did it again we wouldn't do as much of the work ourselves. We were "the hold up." We hired someone to do the siding gutters garage door, plumbing and the exterior painting... see the ugly brown trim. We are having it all painted white. We also paid someone to cut down a tree and haul it away. We had to do the ceiling texture, the clean up, the paint and patching, tearing out a wall, building a wash room and putting down laminate floors. All were easy jobs separately... but they have loomed over us. I just listed it, I will tell you how we do!

Family Dinner

July 30, 2006 19 of the Wittwer clan met for dinner today at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Grandma made a wonderful pork roast dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy. Of course we had homeade icecream. Eric and Jacqueline and their family were here from Idaho. Barb and Bryan came in from Grantsville. Kassi and JD and their 2 were here as were Dave and Terri and Addrianne. We missed everyone who couldn't make it. Next time we hope everyone is here together. We hope all is well with Rohn and Sherry and wish Rohn the best in his new job. Let us here from you.
